Ever since Sir David Clementi’s final report paved the way for the enactment of the Legal Services Act 2007, Baker Tilly’s Professional Practices Group has been at the forefront of thinking on the impact of the regulation on legal service provision.
We have combined our long experience of advising the legal profession with a broader knowledge of the investment and regulatory framework to deliver truly innovative thinking on Alternative Business Structures (ABSs) and the potential impact of external equity on the legal profession.
To enhance our thinking, one year ago we embarked on a project to gauge the movement over time in the attitudes and actions of legal firms in response to the opportunities and threats which will arise when the full provisions of the Legal Services Act come into play on 6 October 2011. We wanted to know whether this would create an appetite for activity or whether there would be apathy?
Straightforward questions
We monitored how thoughts developed over time by asking for responses to a series of 10 straightforward questions. We then used these results to monitor the movement in trends as events unfolded.
A unique insight into developing trends
This project was different to the many 'snapshot' surveys that have been carried out recently because we have given an unparalleled insight into the shift of attitudes, trends and developments within the legal marketplace as time progressed.
Regular feedback
Our Legal Services Act webpage contains the results from both parts of our survey, and breaks down the results by size of firm to ensure relevance to you. This is enhanced by the commentary and insight in our Legal Services Act report so that you derive real value from this research.
