Work begins on new Taxpayers' Charter

Following a consultation process in 2008, work will begin on the wording of a new Taxpayers' Charter in January 2009. It is to be hoped that this will provide some much-needed safeguards for taxpayers in the wake of the wide-ranging new powers awarded to HMRC in the Finance Act 2008.
