Use of evidence by charities
Kerry McCarthy, currently Head of Knowledge and Learning for Social Innovation and Finance and formerly of Matrix Knowledge Group, led a discussion on the use of evidence by charities. This is an approach that is increasingly attractive for charities as they seek to understand better their charitable impact and to make reasoned judgements on the use of measures such as subjective wellbeing in assessing the difference they make to their beneficiaries.

Effective finance functions in charities
Alisa Binnington, now Principal of Finance Counts and formerly Finance Director at WRVS, considered the importance of ensuring that finance functions in charities are effective. This is always a critical area for any charity and nevermore so in the current economic and funding climate.
