Working in our communities
We seek to make a positive contribution to the well-being of the environment and the communities we work in as well as providing support and development to our employees. We are members of Business in the Community, who assist us to continually evaluate our approach to corporate responsibility.
There are three key strands which are critical to our corporate responsibility approach:
Charity and community
We’ve always been keen to ensure that we have a firm-wide infrastructure in place, whilst also allowing offices and individuals to engage with their local communities and charities.
Examples of activity include:
- a team from the Guildford office volunteering for a day at the Winkworth Arboretum
- offices in the north of the UK undertaking a fundraising programme, which raised an amazing £30,000 for five charities
- an employee from our Chelmsford office embarking on a trek to Cambodia raising over £5000 for a cancer care hospice
We have a Give As You Earn scheme for employees who wish to contribute regularly to charity and we are delighted to have received the government’s Silver Payroll Giving Award.
We also provide funds matching for those who generously give their own time to undertake fundraising for charity.
Baker Tilly is a corporate sponsor and charter member of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
Environment
Baker Tilly takes account of the impact of our activities on the environment and the communities in which we operate.
Over the past year we’ve been working with the Carbon Trust to ensure that our offices are as energy efficient as possible. Training of corporate responsibility representatives across the firm has also ensured that all employees are energy aware.
We monitor energy consumption levels across the firm and this is reported at Board level.
We have recycling schemes in place in every office and we monitor levels of paper recycling.
People
We are committed to providing development opportunities and support to our employees and currently sponsor over 20% of our employees to study for a professional qualification.
